Web Development vs Mobile Development

Web development vs mobile development

For different types of software, different types of coding are needed, and developers’ skills have to be different. For example, a chef who cooks food and a waiter who serves the food both need specific skills to perform, and these skills are different from each other. Similarly, for different types of development, different skills are required, such as those needed for mobile developers and web developers.

Both types of development require various types of coding, which developers have to learn and become experts in that particular field.

Now, let’s get on to today’s topic and discuss the differences between web development and mobile development.

Platform and Device:

Web developers normally develop websites or any web applications that are accessed via a browser, typically for desktop or laptop users. They also do a little bit of customization for mobile applications to make the application align on phones but mostly show expertise in desktop or laptop versions.

On the other hand, mobile developers design applications solely for mobile operating systems like Android or IOS. Their user devices are mostly smartphones, tablets, etc. Their applications are entirely different from web applications.

Technology and Language:

For web development, they usually use HTML, CSS, and Java, which are handled by front-end developers, and Python, Ruby, PHP, MySQL, etc., which are used by back-end developers.

For mobile development, they normally use Swift, Objective-C, and tools like X-code for IOS, and for Android, they use Java, Kotlin, and tools like Android Studio.

User Interface and Experience:

Web developers design for various sizes and resolutions and make responsive web versions, following web design standards to increase the usability of the website or web application.

Mobile applications it is mostly user-based, so developers need to consider managing memory usage and battery consumption and providing a smooth UI/UX. These roles may seem almost the same, but the way of doing them is different. Both web development and mobile development require different types of coding, which you have to master to create an application.
